The Government of Assam, as per the provision of section 23 of the RTE Act – 2009, conducts the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2024 and 2025 for Lower Primary and Upper Primary level for the state of Assam as per the guidelines laid down by NCTE.

Candidates having permanent residence in the state of Assam can appear in Assam TET Paper I (Lower Primary) and Paper ll (Upper Primary).

It was observed that after possessing requisite eligibility criteria, TET qualified teachers engaged in the schools as per their preferences, still apply for transfers to school located in other districts. This prevents the teachers from becoming truly invested in and building relationship with the children, school and the community where they serve.

Considering the above, the districts in Assam have been grouped into several zones and a candidate has to select his / her preferred Zone while applying for the Assam TET. After qualifying in TET, he / she will get preference for engagement as a teacher in the preferred Zone.

Assam TET Papers I and II will have 150 MCQs, of which 30 MCQs will be from Child Development & Pedagogy (compulsory).
