GTET 2024 and 2025 – Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by the State Examination Board, Education Department – Government of Gujarat as the eligibility test for aspirants interested in the post of a teacher in government and private schools in the state.

The GTET – Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test comprises of two Papers – I and II.

  • Candidates aiming for a job as a teacher for primary classes I to V in the state of Gujarat must apply for paper I.
  • Candidates aiming for a job as a teacher for elementary level classes VI to VIII in the state of Gujarat must appear for paper II.
  • Candidates may also appear for both papers and upon clearing, will be eligible for teaching classes I to VIII in schools in the state of Gujarat

The GTET 2024 and 2025 is only a qualification test; and not a selection exam. Candidates need to apply for specific jobs as and when advertised and may have to go through other selection processes as applicable.

In this article, we will look at the official and the detailed syllabus for Child Development and Pedagogy – CDP part of the Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test – Papers I and II.

Gujarat GTET 2024 and 2025 Official CDP Syllabus for Papers 1 and 2

Child Development and Pedagogy – CDP will consist of 30 questions (MCQs) out of the 150 questions in both Papers 1 and 2 of the Gujarat GTET 2024 and 2025.

Officially,  the Gujarat SEB releases a very brief list of topics (as given below) as the syllabus for the CDP part of the exam.

Gujarat GTET 2024 and 2025 Paper I Detailed Syllabus For Child Development and Pedagogy CDP – Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test

a) Child Development (Primary School Child) – 6 to 11 years – Classes I to V

  • Concept of development and its relationship with learning
  • Principles of the development of children
  • Influence of Heredity & Environment
  • Socialization processes: Social world & children (Teacher, Parents, Peers)
  • Piaget, Kohlberg and Vygotsky: constructs and critical perspectives
  • Concepts of child-centered and progressive education
  • Critical perspective of the construct of Intelligence
  • Multi-Dimensional Intelligence
  • Language & Thought
  • Gender as a social construct; gender roles, gender-bias and educational practice
  • Individual differences among learners, understanding differences based on diversity of language, caste, gender, community, religion etc.
  • Distinction between Assessment for learning and assessment of learning; School-Based Assessment, Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation: perspective and practice

b) Concept of Inclusive education and understanding children with special needs

  • Addressing the needs of children with learning difficulties, ‘impairment’ etc.
  • Addressing the Talented, Creative, Specially abled Learners

c) Learning and Pedagogy

  • How children think and learn; how and why children ‘fail’ to achieve success in school performance.
  • Basic processes of teaching and learning; children’s strategies of learning; learning as a social activity; social context of learning.
  • Child as a problem solver and a ‘scientific investigator’

a) Child Development (Elementary School Child) – 11 to 14 years – Classes VI to VIII
