NTA – National Testing Agency, will conduct the National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Exam 2020 (NCHM JEE-2020) in CBT mode for admission to the B.Sc. Course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (B.Sc.HHA) across the Country.


The National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHM &CT) is an Autonomous Body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

The Council centrally runs and regulates academics for B.Sc. Course in Hospitality & Hotel Administration[ B.Sc.(HHA)] and ten other structured courses of study that are imparted at the affiliated Central Institutes of Hotel Management, State Governments run Institutes of Hotel Management(IHM), Public Sector Undertaking-IHM and Private Institutes of Hotel Management.

All affiliated Institutes follow standardised course curricula prescribed by the Council for different professional programmes. The quality of education and training provided by the Institutes help students to emerge as professionally qualified personnel for hospitality and other allied service sectors.


The Bachelor of Science Programme in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (B.Sc. HHA) is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University.

The Three-Year (Six Semesters) regular full time Course equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality Sector. The Program involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skill standards in the following key operational areas :

  • Food & Beverage Service
  • Front Office Operation
  • House Keeping


The course also provides managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety & Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Management.

The B.Sc. HHA Programme with only vegetarian practical option is available to vegetarian candidates. However, other theory classes will be at par with the other students.

About 95% of the graduates are employed by Hospitality and other service sectors through on-campus and off-campus recruitment processes.


  • A pass in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary exam or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects.
  • Candidate must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying exam.
  • Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent exam can also appear in NCHM JEE-2020 on provisional basis.


(1) Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying exam (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30.09.2020.

(2) The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/documents at the time of admission. If any candidate is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will stand cancelled.


For candidates from General and OBC categories, upper age limit is 25 years as on the specific date mentioned in the official notification and brochure. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, upper age limit is 28 years as on the specific date mentioned in the official notification and brochure.

Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates will be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to i.e. General/SC/ST/OBC. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate will be the authentic proof that will be accepted. At the time of counselling, this certificate must be produced in original as a proof of age, failing which the candidate will not be considered for counselling/admission.


All selected and qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate of carrying out practical classes as required in the Course at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner.


For admission to a participating IHM, please see the reservations applicable in that particular institute. (Different State Institutes may have various reservation patterns depending on the specific State Government policies.)

In case of institutes run by Central Government, 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe (ST) and 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the “Non Creamy layer” (OBC-NCL). Each category will have 5% reservations for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as defined in The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016).

Other Backward Classes – Non Creamy Layer (OBC–NCL) are as per the Central list of Other Backward Classes available on National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Government of India website Thus, the candidates falling in this list may mention OBC in the Category Column. State list OBC Candidates who are not in OBC-NCL (Central List) must choose General.

Persons with disabilities (PwD) means a person with not less than forty percent (40%) of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority. “Specified Disability” means the disabilities as specified in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016.

No change in the category will be entertained after the last date of NCHM JEE-2020 application form and no subsequent changes will be effective for NCHM Rank list 2020.

Processing charges & Goods and Service Taxes are to be paid by the candidate, as applicable.


Candidates have to apply for NCHM JEE-2020 in the “Online” mode ONLY by accessing the website . The Application Form in other than online mode would not be accepted, in any case. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. Multiple application forms submitted by a candidate will be rejected.

It is recommended that candidate’s should have the following details and documents on hand, before starting to fill the application form:

  • A computer with good Internet connectivity
  • All your qualification details
  • Scanned clear passport photograph in JPG/JPEG format (size between 10 kb–200 kb)
  • Scanned clear signature in JPG/JPEG format (size between 4 kb–30 kb)
  • A valid e-mail Id as all communication will be made on this e-mail Id
  • A valid mobile number as all information via SMS will be sent to this number
  • A valid debit/credit card or Net banking account for online payment option
  • A printer connected to your system to print the e-challan and confirmation page


Before starting with the application form, download the latest version of the NCHM JEE information Bulletin. Read it carefully to ensure your eligibility and understand the requirements for the Online Application Form.

No correction can be made after submission of an application. No change whatsoever will be accepted through any offline mode i.e. through fax/application including e-mail etc.


Step-1: Register for Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application Number.

The candidate should supply all the details while filling the Online Application Form and also create a PASSWORD and choose a Security Question and enter his/her Answer. After successful submission of the personal details, Application number will be generated and it will be used to complete the remaining Steps. The application number will also be required for all future correspondence. For subsequent logins, candidate will be able to login directly with the respective system generated Application Number and the user created Password.

Step-2: Complete the Application Form

Candidate can login with the system generated Application Number and created Password for completing the Application Form.

Step-3: Upload Scanned Images of Candidate Photograph and Candidate Signature.

  1. Scanned photograph and signature should be in JPG/JPEG format.
  2. Size of scanned photograph should be between 10 kb to 200 kb.
  3. Size of scanned signature should be between 4 kb to 30 kb.
  4. The photograph should be coloured or black/white (but clear contrast).

Note: Upload the correct Photograph and Signature as the facility for correction in images will not be given.

Step-4: Payment by Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking/e-Challan

The candidate has to select Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking option to pay the application fee and follow the online instruction to complete the payment of fee.

After successful payment, candidate will be able to print the Confirmation Page. In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled and amount will be refunded to the candidate’s account. However the candidate has to make another transaction, in case the Confirmation Page is not generated.

The above application process steps can be done together at one time or separately before the application closure deadline.

Notes :

(i) The final submission of online Application form will remain incomplete if all the steps are not completed. Such forms will stand rejected and no correspondence will be entertained.

(ii) No request for refund of fee once remitted by the candidate will be entertained

(iii) The entire application process of NCHM JEE-2020 is online, including uploading of scanned images, Payment of Fees and Printing of Confirmation page. Therefore, candidates are not required to send/submit any document(s) including Confirmation page to NTA through Post/Fax/ By Hand.

(iv) Candidates are advised to keep visiting the NTA’s website regularly for latest updates and to check their SMS/e-mails.

(v) The NTA can make use of the data generated for the purpose of research and analysis.


Verification of Details and Documents submitted

All the candidates who have submitted the online application and paid the exam fee till last date will be allowed to appear in NCHM JEE-2020 and their admit cards will be uploaded on the website as per schedule.

The NTA do neither verify the information filled by the candidates in the application form nor verify any certificate of category/educational qualification for deciding the eligibility of candidates. The certificates of educational qualification and category (if applied under reserved category) will be verified by the concerned institution.

Candidates are, therefore, advised to ensure their eligibility and the category (if applying under reserved category). The NTA will, in no way, be responsible for any wrong/incorrect information furnished by the candidate(s) in their online application form. The letter/e-mails in this regard will not be entertained by the NTA.

The candidates are required to check the status of fee payment at NTA website ( ) and if the status is ‘OK’ the candidate will be able to take the printout of Confirmation Page. In case, the fee payment status is not ‘OK’ the candidates are advised as following :

If the fee is paid through e-challan by depositing cash in above mentioned bank in case status does not show OK, then the candidate should contact the concerned bank immediately to update his/her fee status on the website.

If the fee is paid through credit/debit card and status is not OK, it means the transaction is cancelled and the amount will automatically be refunded to concerned credit/debit card within 15 days. Therefore, such candidates have to pay the fee once again and ensure the fee status shows OK.

Depending on the mode of payment, there may be additional Service/Processing charges & Goods and Service Taxes (GST) thereon. Candidates will have to pay the complete amount, including the aforementioned charges and taxes as applicable.

In case candidate opt for e-challan mode for Cash deposit at any of the Syndicate Bank Branches in India, he/she will have to take the A4 size printout of the e-challan in .pdf from Syndicate Bank MOPS page which will contain NTA’s required information in addition to Bank reference number.

Candidate can visit any of the Syndicate branches in India and deposit amount mentioned in the e-challan in Cash. Bank will accept only pre-printed amount mentioned in e-challan.

Note: Print Confirmation Page of Online Application Form from NTA’s website after payment of Fee. Retain all transaction related details and records for future reference.


The medium (Language) of the NCHM JEE Question Paper will be English and Hindi only

The result of the NCHM JEE Computer Based Test will be announced on the NTA’s web site: by 10th May 2020.

The all India NCHMCT IHM admissions merit list of candidates will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in the NCHM-JEE Computer Based Test (CBT). In case candidates secure equal marks, the merit will be determined as under;

i) Candidate securing higher marks in English component of JEE will rank higher,

ii) In case of candidates securing equal marks in NCHM-JEE, as well as in English component of NCHM-JEE, then the candidate securing higher marks in Service Aptitude Component of NCHM-JEE will rank higher,

iii) In case of tie in (i) and (ii), the candidate older in age will rank higher.


The Exam Centres (Cities or Towns) where the NCHM JEE-2020 will be conducted will be published by NTA in the application form. While applying, candidates have to select any four cities of their choice.

All efforts will be made to allot city of exam to the candidates in the order of the choice opted in their application form. However, due to administrative reasons, a city / town may be allotted. The decision of the NTA regarding allotment of Centre will be final. No further correspondence or request will be entertained in such case.

The Candidates will report at the Exam Centre two hours before the commencement of the exam. Candidates will not be permitted to enter in the Exam Hall/Room after the specific time mentioned in the admit card.

After the NCHM JEE-2020 exam is concluded, the NTA will display answer keys & recorded responses of multiple choice questions on the NTA’s website

Candidates, who are not satisfied with the answer keys and recorded responses, may challenge the keys by filling the online application form and paying a processing charge of Rs.1000/- per question.

The processing charge can be paid by credit/debit card/net banking. The processing charge once paid is non-refundable.

The NTA’s decision on the challenges will be final and no further communication will be entertained.


The NCHM JEE result will be compiled on the basis of final answer keys. No grievance will be entertained with regard to answer key(s) after declaration of result of NCHM JEE-2020.

The raw (actual) marks obtained by a candidate will be considered further for computation of the result of NCHM JEE-2020. No score card will be dispatched to the candidates and the candidates are required to download their score cards from the website: only.

There will be no provision for re-valuation/re-checking of the Score. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is an exam conducting body and will provide NCHM JEE Score 2020 for all candidates who have completed the formalities and taken the exam.

The NTA does not collect the information regarding total number of seats available in the institutions and reservation criteria followed by the institutions and will not be involved in the admissions process beyond the publishing of the required results and rank lists.


National Testing Agency (NTA) has established a network of Test Practice Centres spread all over India to help the students aspiring to appear in the NCHM JEE 2020 Exam. The students can practice and familiarise themselves with the “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode of exams.

The Practice Test is for generally experiencing the CBT mode. There may not be any specific mock tests or preparatory tests at the practice center for the NCHM Exam.

Candidates will maintain silence and attend to their Question Paper only. Any conversation or gesture or disturbance in the NCHM Exam Room/Hall will be deemed as misbehaviour.

If a candidate is found using unfair means or impersonating, his/her candidature will be cancelled and he/she will be liable to be debarred for taking exam either permanently or for a specified period according to the nature of offence.

Candidates are not allowed to carry any printed or handwritten books, Calculators, Slide Rules, Log Tables, and Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device inside the Exam Room/Hall.

The NCHM JEE 2020 admit card will be the only paper that the candidate can carry into the exam hall.

If any candidate is in possession of any of the above item, his/her candidature will be treated as unfair means and his/her current exam will be cancelled & he/she will also be debarred for future exam(s) & the equipment will be seized.

The decision of NTA on unfair means will be final and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.


Candidates MUST bring the following documents on the day of exam at the test centre. Candidates without these documents will not be allowed to enter the NCHMCT JEE 2020 Exam hall.

  • Printed copy of the NCHM JEE Admit Card downloaded from NTA’s website.
  • One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) should be taken for pasting on the specific space in the attendance sheet at Centre during NCHM Exam.
  • Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid and non-expired) – PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/ Ration Card/Student ID
  • PwD certificate issued by the authorized medical officer, if claiming the relaxation under PwD category

Candidates are required to report at the Exam Centre two hours before the commencement of the NCHMCT JEE exam so as to complete the frisking and registration formalities well before the time.

Registration desk will be closed 60 minutes prior to the commencement of the NCHM JEE 2020 exam.

Candidates will not be permitted to enter in the IHM JEE Exam Hall/Room after the specific cut off time mentioned in the admit card.

Candidates are advised to read the instructions on the NCHM JEE 2020 admit card carefully and follow them during the conduct of the exam.

The candidate must show, on demand, the Admit Card downloaded/printed from the NTA’s website for entry in the exam room/hall. A candidate who does not possess the valid Admit Card will not be permitted for the exam under any circumstances by the Centre Superintendent.

A seat indicating roll number will be allocated to each candidate. Candidates should find and sit on their allocated seat only. Any candidate found to have changed room/hall or the seat on his/her own other than allotted, his/her candidature will be cancelled and no plea would be accepted for it.

Candidates will not leave his/her seat or the IHM JEE 2020 Exam Room/Hall until the full duration of the paper is over. If a candidate has to leave the hall for any emergency, special permission of the Centre Superintendent or the Invigilator concerned is required.

Candidates must follow the instructions strictly as instructed by the Centre Superintendent/Invigilators.

Candidates should not leave the room/hall without handing over their rough sheets to the invigilator on duty in the Room/Hall.

Smoking, chewing gutkha, spitting etc. in the Exam Room/Hall is strictly prohibited.

If any candidate is unable to appear on the scheduled date of tests for any reason, the NTA will not be responsible for conduct of re-test, under any circumstances.

At the test centre, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with rough papers for calculations and a Pen/Pencil. After the test, candidate must leave the rough papers at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet.
